The Springfield Foundation has generously awarded Crayons to Classrooms (C2C) a $5,000 grant to support the 23 Clark County schools served by the Teacher Resource Center. Clark County makes up nearly 20% of the under-resourced schools served by C2C. Over 11,000 of students in the county benefit from their teachers shopping at C2C. At least 60% of students receive free or reduced lunch at these PreK-12 schools. C2C works to bridge the opportunity gap in education that many students face due to circumstances beyond their control, including ethnicity, socioeconomic status, or zip code.
“Shopping at Crayons to Classrooms has helped provide materials for class projects, communicating with families, and keeping my classroom environment healthy,” shares Ms. Owings, teacher at Perrin Woods Elementary. “I have also been able to get school supplies, books, and miscellaneous items that have helped and enriched my students’ learning experiences. I appreciate all who donate to Crayons to Classrooms.”
In a recent survey, 98% of local teachers shared that C2C is important for their ability to meet student’s daily educational needs through daily class activities.
The Springfield Foundation allows C2C to continue serving eligible schools in Clark County. With the right tools for learning, students will be empowered to overcome the opportunity gap and be successful at school, in their future academic and professional careers, and in life.
By supporting C2C, you are directly impacting the education of thousands of students. You can help by donating school supplies, making a financial contribution, or signing up to volunteer.
