Troy Noon Optimist Club Provides Funding for 1,000 Troy Students

January 8, 2025

The Troy Noon Optimist Club understands the needs in the community and their focus is to support youth in any way possible. Composed of community leaders—many of whom are retired teachers themselves—they feel strongly that education is a priority for their city’s wellbeing and growth. They graciously awarded a grant of $1,000 to C2C to support distributions of free supplies to teachers at the four Troy schools participating in C2C’s program for the 2024-2025 school year.

Crayons to Classrooms (C2C) is currently serving 143 schools across the Miami Valley. Each year, C2C reviews school data for the seven counties we serve to determine which schools are eligible for services based on the need in the community. Miami County is an area that we were pleased to report we began supporting in the 2023-2024 school year, by serving two schools in Troy.

In the 2024-2025 school year, C2C added two more schools in Troy, for a total of four schools in the city: Cookson Elementary, Forest Elementary, Heywood Elementary, and Kyle Elementary. Teachers from these four schools are eligible to visit C2C twice each school year to choose supplies they feel will benefit the learning of approximately 1,000 students.

This generous funding helps offset program costs to distribute a goal of $35,000 in free supplies to Troy schools this year. The Teacher Resource Center has already distributed a total of $23,001 to teachers at the four Troy schools. C2C is grateful for this new partnership to benefit so many students in need.
